Looking to begin your matcha journey? Our starter kit include everything you need:
1) 50g of Ceremonial Matcha
2) 50g of Waterloo Matcha
3) A traditional bamboo whisk to help you achieve the perfect froth on your matcha green tea.
There are a number of things that we suggest when it comes to matcha. Firstly to keep the bags carefully sealed so that the air doesn't oxidise the matcha leading to a lack of potency.
If you are buying the matcha starter kit as you are new to matcha then try using a small amount of matcha to begin with in the cup. you can measure with scales or your favourite teaspoon. Once you get used to the taste and strength you can then choose to make the matcha tea more concentrated (thick).
The ceremonial matcha we suggest only gets used in classic matcha tea (just because it is too good to put into cookies and lattes - but you can if you wish). The Waterloo matcha you can brew in both the classic technique but also for use in cooking and milk based drinks.
Sieving the matcha, or at a minimum making sure that all clumps and whisked out using the chasen (whisk). In a nutshell - a good technique is to add the desired amount of powder and then to slowly add water, whisking as you do, increasing the amount of water you add until you achieve the desired consistency of brew. Aiming for a frothy surface to the brew is the goal, an indication the that matcha tea has been whisked at a appropriate level during the process.
