Description

Jasmine Green is a staple in any loose leaf tea collection and a benchmark for scented teas. This blend is made using high-quality green tea and fresh jasmine blossoms, combined through a traditional tea scenting process that prioritises balance and clarity in the cup.

The base tea is harvested in spring in Fujian, then transported to Guangxi, where jasmine flowers bloom in summer. This timing is essential. Only fresh blossoms are used, allowing the tea leaves to naturally absorb their aroma. The result is a tea where the jasmine complements the green tea, rather than overpowering it.

This approach reflects the importance of ingredient quality and process. By sourcing both the tea and the flowers from regions known for their respective strengths, Jasmine Green delivers a consistent and well-executed example of one of China’s most recognisable tea styles.

Origin

The green tea base is grown and harvested in Fujian province, a region with a long history of producing high-quality green teas. Known for its established tea-making traditions, Fujian provides a reliable foundation for scented teas, with leaves that can carry and retain added aromas effectively.

After harvest, the tea is transported to Guangxi province, where jasmine flowers are cultivated. Guangxi is the centre of jasmine production in China, supplying fresh blossoms used specifically for tea scenting. This separation of growing regions reflects a traditional supply chain designed to optimise both tea and flower quality.

Processing

Jasmine Green is produced using a traditional tea scenting process, where fresh jasmine blossoms are layered with prepared green tea leaves. As the flowers open, they release their natural aroma, which is gradually absorbed by the tea.

This process is repeated multiple times, depending on the desired intensity, with fresh blossoms introduced at each stage. Once the scenting is complete, the flowers are removed, leaving the tea infused with a clean, natural jasmine character. This method ensures that the final cup reflects the balance between the structure of the green tea and the fragrance of the jasmine, rather than relying on added flavourings.
