Golden Needle is a standout black tea from Yunnan, produced using only young bud shoots traditionally reserved for white or green teas. Picked in the autumn and carefully oxidised, these buds take on a golden colour during processing and develop a smooth, rounded flavour profile. The result is a visually striking tea with rich caramel and dark chocolate notes. The liquor is full-bodied, sweet on the nose, and clean on the finish.
This tea is made using a minimal handling process to preserve the structure and integrity of the leaf. The buds are lightly withered and oxidised just enough to highlight their natural character while deepening the flavour. The sweetness and thick aroma are naturally developed through oxidation, without the need for added flavouring or blending. It’s a fine example of how skilled processing can transform delicate buds into a black tea of remarkable smoothness and depth.
Golden Needle is one of the most refined black teas in our Chinese collection. It’s particularly well-suited to those who enjoy lighter, nuanced black teas, or for anyone looking to explore how processing methods can influence flavour.
