Originally developed hundreds of years ago by Zen monks, this blend of roasted rice with sencha has become a classic. Smooth and mild with a warming and toasty aroma.
One legend has it that after a meal the monks would see the remains of their rice dish stuck onto the inside of the cauldron. To prevent any waste they would add tea to the cauldron along with water to loosen the rice off the sides.
A quality version of this classic blend from Japan. The green tea delivers a clean base with medium umami, on top of which the toasted rice flavour shines through.
