Black Tea

Waterloo Breakfast

Assam 2nd Flush. GFBOPCL

Our favourite breakfast tea. Think 'luxurious comfort'.

Being a lover of tea does not necessarily mean that you need to always have the whites and the puerhs. This remarkable broken leaf tea from Assam is a stunner. Normally this quality would only be presented in whole leaf form - but the smaller particle size allows the tea to brew quicker and deliver a punchier drink. You can enjoy black, or with a couple of more minutes steeping you can flood with milk.

If you want to treat yourself and remain within the confines of breakfast tea - then arguably you will not find a better representation than this.

Khongea is situated in the upper reaches of the Assam region, on the south bank of the Brahmaputra River. Assam is the single largest tea-growing region in the world, producing great breakfast tea prized for its rich, malty, and robust cup character. The finest Assam tea, produced during the Second Flush, has chunky golden tips. Assam tea’s strong character makes it the perfect base for Chai tea, or as the locals call it, Masala tea.

Although established in the late nineteenth century by two English tea-planting ladies, Khongea tea estate has been managed and owned by the Prakash family for over 50 years.
