Full Description

Royal Grey is our elevated take on Earl Grey, inspired by Lady Grey but designed to deliver a brighter, more complex cup. It combines the familiar character of Earl Grey with additional citrus and floral elements to create a visually striking and aromatic tea with more depth and enhanced citrus notes.

The base of Royal Grey is our Ceylon black tea, to which we add natural bergamot oil, orange and lemon peels, and blue cornflower petals. The citrus peels amplify the flavour profile of the bergamot, while the cornflower petals add visual interest to the dry blend. The result is a tea that is both fragrant and layered, with pronounced citrus character and elegant presentation.

Royal Grey is versatile in preparation. It can be enjoyed hot or iced, with or without milk, lemon, or sugar. The blend’s complexity and appearance make it a refined choice for those looking for a more distinctive version of the classic Earl Grey experience.

Ingredients

The base of Royal Grey is a current-season Ceylon black tea from Sri Lanka. Its terroir imparts subtle citrus undertones that pair naturally with the bergamot oil. 

The bergamot oil is extracted from the peel of the bergamot orange, a small citrus fruit primarily grown in Calabria, Italy. Its aromatic profile is floral, zesty, and slightly bitter, complementing the black tea without overpowering it.

To enhance the flavour profile, Royal Grey sees the addition of dried orange and lemon peels. These provide additional citrus notes, reinforcing the zesty character of the bergamot and adding layers of brightness and complexity to the cup.

Blue cornflower petals are included for visual appeal in the dry blend. While they do not influence the infusion itself, they create a striking, elegant appearance in the tea before brewing.
